Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Double Major in Music.
Durham, NC
- Relevant Coursework: Machine Learning (Graduate), Computer Vision (Graduate), Data Science Research (Graduate), Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Database Systems, Computer Systems, Data Structures
Experience
Rudin Interpretability Lab, Undergraduate Research Assistant
January 2023 – August 2023
Duke Computer Science Department
Durham, NC
- Implemented a machine-learning pipeline in Python to preprocess largely uncleaned ICU data, do time-series-based feature engineering, concurrently execute and log hyperparameter tuning with the Slurm Workload Manager and Weights and Biases (WandB), and train/test machine learning models.
- Wrote extraction scripts in PostgreSQL and BigQuerySQL to extract raw EHR data for the pipeline to preprocess and utilize. Conferred with researchers at MIT regarding design decisions.
- Contributed to Professor Cynthia Rudin’s Interpretability Lab’s ongoing research into using state-of-the-art interpretable machine learning models (FasterRisk, FastSparse, GOSDT) to predict patient mortality; wrote and edited paper sections (pending submission to data-science journals).
Teaching Assistant: Database Systems and Data Science
January 2023 – Present
Department of Computer Science, Duke University
Durham, NC
- Employed the Otter Autograder library to build autograders for exams and homework which interface with the Gradescope grade management system.
- Assisted in writing and testing exams to assess students’ knowledge of data science concepts and best practices, such as linear/logistic regression, KNN, and relying on standard libraries (numpy, Pandas) for scaleable computations.
- Held office hours, assisted in lectures by answering student questions, and graded weekly assignments/exams.
Software Engineering Intern
June 2022 – August 2022
Springboard SaaS
New York, NY
- Wrote PHP and SQL code for a bespoke content management system (CMS) for an internal information app.
- Realized responsive user interfaces by translating designer mockups to code using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and Twig, ensuring seamless rendering across various devices and platforms and meeting aesthetic and functional specifications.
- Authored comprehensive documentation outlining the structure, features, and extension points of the CMS, enabling other developers to build upon the existing codebase.
Resident Assistant
August 2021 – Present
Housing and Residence Life, Duke University
Durham, NC
- Named Rookie of the Year (Spring 2022), RA of the Semester (Fall 2022) out of 200+ for superior performance.
- Managed budgets for programming events for 60+ residents, responded to building and resident emergencies, and performed dorm operations such as health/safety inspections, fire drills, move-in/move-out, nightly rounds, and orientation.
